Residencies

Hamilton Island Residency

My first Gallery residency in 2008 celebrated the island’s 25th anniversary of Race Week – the largest sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere. I conducted art classes on dynamic Front Street by the Marina while the gallery exhibited my paintings upstairs.

Residencies are two weeks in duration.  I attend several each year tutoring guests, island residents and staff. I also exhibit new paintings.  Between February 2022 and February 2023, I attended five residencies. Every residency is a delightful and ever-changing experience. I love meeting new visitors to the gallery from Australia and overseas.  And the interaction with art class students is creative and exciting.

Shown here is the Gallery sign featuring my island mural – an aerial view of island life. Fun and relaxing with lots to see and do!

Maldives Residency

In 2016, I was invited to exhibit at an island resort in the gorgeous Maldives.

Three months of tranquil and rhythmic island time.  My colours and subjects perfect for this exotic location.  Thriving coral atolls.  Shell strewn white sands.  The Indian Ocean’s clear jewel seas.  A sense of relaxed freedom inspired my painting.

Tutoring guests to paint was a joy.  And Maldivian people are warm-hearted and friendly.

We sailed to nearby secluded islands in traditional Maldivian Dhonis. Snorkelled over coral reefs in shallow waters.

Visiting guests from across the globe were enthusiastic purchasers of my work.

It was exhilarating.
